Halloween Ends

The planned American slasher movie Halloween Ends was written by Chris Bernier, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and David Gordon Green and is based on John Carpenter and Debra Hill and John Carpenter's characters. It is the thirteenth entry in the Halloween movie series and the follow-up to Halloween Kills from 2021. Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney, who previously played Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, will reprise their roles in the movie. Allyson, the granddaughter of Laurie, will be played by Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Kyle Richards, and Omar Dorsey, while Deputy Frank Hawkins, Lindsey Wallace, and Sheriff Barker will all return. With Rough House Productions, Miramax, and Trancas International Pictures, Jason Blum will produce the movie under the Blumhouse Productions name.

Before the 2018 movie's release, McBride revealed in June 2018 that he and Green had originally planned to pitch two movies that would be shot simultaneously but changed their minds after waiting to see how the first movie did. The movie's title and Halloween Kills were both revealed in July 2019.

In the year 2021, four years after the events of Halloween Kills, Laurie is working up her autobiography while residing with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak). Since then, nobody has seen Michael Myers. Laurie has made the decision to break free from her fear and wrath and embrace life after letting the ghost of Michael control and shape her reality for decades. However, when Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), a young man, is charged with the murder of a youngster while he was watching him, it sets off a chain reaction of violence and fear that will drive Laurie to finally face the evil she can't stop, once and for all.

Jamie Lee Curtis plays Laurie Strode, the only survivor of Michael Myers' 1978 murderous rampage, a person with PTSD, and the grandmother of Allyson.
Laurie's adolescent granddaughter Allyson Nelson, played by Andi Matichak, squares up against Michael.
James Jude Courtney plays Michael Myers, also known as The Shape, the masked assailant who murdered a horrible number of people on Halloween in 1978 and then returned to Haddonfield to commit further murders.
In addition, Nick Castle, who previously played Myers in Halloween and Kills in 2018, reprises his role.
Officer Frank Hawkins, played by Will Patton, was a sheriff's deputy who apprehended Michael after his initial killing spree in 1978.
Allyson's new lover, Corey Cunningham, is played by Rohan Campbell.
One of the kids Laurie babysat in 1978, Lindsey Wallace, played by Kyle Richards, helps Laurie and Allyson find him. Richards plays the same character that she did in 1978 original and Halloween Kills.
In addition, Omar Dorsey reprises his role as Sheriff Barker, the current sheriff of Haddonfield, and Michael O'Leary plays Dr. Mathis, a doctor who is briefly mentioned in Halloween Kills.

Danny McBride and David Gordon Green said in June 2018 that they had originally planned to present two movies that would be shot back-to-back but changed their minds after waiting to see how the first movie did:

"We intended to shoot two of them simultaneously. Then we said, "Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. If this was revealed, everyone would despise us, and we would never again cooperate. Therefore, let's avoid waiting about a year for another movie that we know won't be well received to come out. So, we thought, "Let's take note of this and determine what works and what doesn't."

Producer Jason Blum stated that "we will do a sequel if the movie performs" in September 2018. After the movie's opening weekend in October 2018, McBride declared that early work on a sequel has begun. Along with the then-untitled Halloween Kills, a third movie was reportedly in development in July 2019 with Green returning as the director, according to Bloody Disgusting.

Additionally, according to the website, the company was thinking of releasing both movies in October 2020. Green, McBride, and Jeff Fradley originally intended for their plot arc to span two movies, but after realizing they had more material than they had anticipated, they decided to do a trilogy instead. Later that month, Universal Pictures unveiled the names and scheduled debut dates for the two follow-up films: October 16 for Halloween Kills and October 15 for Halloween Ends. Jamie Lee Curtis would reprise her role in both movies, and it was formally announced that Green will direct both movies and write the scripts alongside McBride.

Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier were named as co-writers of Halloween Ends, while Scott Teems was confirmed as a co-writer for Halloween Kills. That same month, it was confirmed that Judy Greer and Andi Matichak will play Karen and Allyson once more. The picture was expected to be produced by Blum, Malek Akkad, and Bill Block, with John Carpenter, Curtis, Green, and McBride once more serving as executive producers. Universal Pictures rescheduled Halloween Kills to October 2021 and Halloween Ends to October 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Green confirmed in October 2021 that Halloween Ends will take set four years after the events of Halloween Kills and will include pandemic-related themes in the narrative. The same month, Curtis asserted in an interview that the movie will be "startling" and "get people extremely angry." Green described the movie as a coming-of-age tale and promised a more personal experience, similar to Carpenter's Christine. Akkad claimed the movie will be more "contained" than the last one. Green also suggested that McBride had asked for an appearance, perhaps as a villain who challenges Myers.
